How to Use Social Media to Drive Your Business

Businesses aren’t built in board rooms. They’re built around kitchen tables, coffee dates, and through communities. Start-ups and small businesses are booming more than ever. An idea can become a business virtually overnight. Why is it easier to build a business today than ten years ago? Social media is the answer.

You can connect with customers all over the world, curate your brand identity, and become a leader within your industry. All through the power of social media – but how?

Social media is one of the most impactful tools that any business can use. We use our social media to educate clients about our training classes and build a community of female entrepreneurs within the beauty industry.

Our Instagram page has over 100,000 followers alone. Imagine what 100,000 people seeing your product or service could do for your business. By using a trending Instagram Reel, we were able to gain 277,000 views (October 5th, 2022).

We’re sharing five tips on how to use social media to drive your business success. You’re only a few clicks away from scaling your business to the next level.

1. Create a Brand Identity

Consistency is key on social media. Think of your favorite content creators and brands. You know their content before having to look at their handle. Plan your content around building your brand identity.

Start by identifying the ‘why’ behind your business. Our goal is to educate the next generation of inspiring female entrepreneurs. We focus our content on this mission by posting about our training opportunities and our students.

Build out your brand identity and incorporate it into every social media post.

2. Don’t Rely on Only One Platform

Businesses often make the mistake of relying too heavily on one platform. You don’t want to build a community on Instagram and ignore every other social media site. If Instagram disappears tomorrow, you’ll lose most of your community overnight.

Businesses had a Halloween-worthy jump scare last week when an Instagram glitch told millions of accounts they were suspended. Imagine if it happened for real.

While it’s not unusual to have one platform be more successful, you want to have a presence on all the major social media platforms. Facebook and Instagram’s integration makes it easy to cross-post, while TikTok is sending brands viral overnight.

3. Behind the Scenes Video Content

Video is King in the world of social media. Facebook and Instagram’s algorithms prioritize video content as it’s more engaging for audiences. 85% of social media users want to see more video content from their favorite brands.

It doesn’t mean you have to jump on the latest TikTok dance craze. Behind the Scenes content is an easy way to build your brand identity and create an engaged community. Small businesses and entrepreneurs can build a one-on-one connection with their customers through video content.

4. Engage With Your Community

One mistake that businesses make on social media is by treating their profiles as existing for broadcast only. Engagement is just as important as posting. Take time to reply to comments and DMs and respond to posts you’re tagged in.

We love to engage with our community by spotlighting our students who complete our training program. Let your audience experience your brand through your social media.

Social media has the power to transform your business. While it’s easy to get distracted by the numbers and fears about algorithms, every successful business has started with zero followers. Follow these four pieces of advice to grow your account and unleash your company’s potential.
